About the Host
Zoe has been blogging since 2008 at https://sozowhatdoyouknow.blogspot.com/ and posts on Instagram @sozoblog.
She is a sewing teacher, blogger, writer and mum who is obsessed with sewing and passionate about sustainability. Zoe started her blog ‘So, Zo… What Do You Know?’ thirteen years ago, and created the popular wardrobe challenge ‘Me-Made-May’ a couple of years after.
Now a major fixture in the sewing-and-making community, ‘Me-Made-May’ has thousands of participants each year, all pledging to wear their ‘me-mades’ more, or in new ways, with the goal of learning lessons to improve their relationships with their handmade wardrobes.
Zoe has taught sewing and dress making classes for eight years at various places including ‘Sew Over It’, ‘Tilly and the Buttons’ and ‘The Village Haberdashery’.
During lockdown in 2020, she wrote a book about mending and altering clothing called ‘Mend It, Wear It, Love It’ that was published by DK in 2021.
Like many, she is increasingly concerned about the climate crisis and the impact her lifestyle has on the planet.
‘Check Your Thread’ podcast was born out of her desire to look at ways to reduce this impact through the lens of her love of sewing.
And so often lessons learned in one area of life can be transferred to others….
About the Podcast
Each week Check Your Thread looks at how to sew more sustainably, through inspiring conversation and fun explorations. For those of us who are concerned about the climate crisis but love sewing our own clothes, it’s an opportunity to nerd out about garment sewing, whilst figuring out ways to reduce the impact it may have on the planet. Hosted by Zoe Edwards, a writer, blogger, dressmaking teacher and general sewing and sustainability obsessive.since
