I love hearing and reading practical tips for how to stay creative when your budget is tight. But what is rarely acknowledged in those types of content is how rubbish and frustrating trying to maintain a creative hobby when you’re skint actually feels. In this episode, we acknowledge and gently challenge some of those negative feelings, so that applying those practical tips feels positive and rewarding.

Hello Zoe,
I just started to listen to this episode and already feel like I need to leave a comment.
When I was a young parent, paying childcare, school fees, saving for the future, etc. Our budget was tight. I tried to look at it like a puzzle or game, how to have fun and have essentials without extending past my paycheck. It also helped to have blinders to neighbors and friends who seemed to have all of the new, fancy, expensive stuff.
Now I am retired and have a comfortable amount of disposable income. I no longer feel the need to buy things, and continue to operate far below my income. Now, I refrain from purchasing new items to help Mother Earth and to enjoy my home with less clutter.
It was not always fun to skimp and save but, in the end, it worked out very well for me.
Thanks so much for your comment Barb. It’s so interesting to hear how your frugal but positive mindset has stuck, even though now your financial circumstances have changed somewhat. Thanks again x
